Why We Support Tommy
Tommy IS the most qualified and logical choice for the people of Slidell. I am a retired Fire Chief for the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1, where I served for 21 years. I worked with many Police Chiefs, and I can say that, if elected, Tommy will be one of the best for certain. Good luck Tommy!
With more than forty years of service in law enforcement and city government—including 25 years with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, eight years as Chief of Police in Slidell, and two terms as Mayor—I have come to appreciate the qualities that define exceptional leadership and a genuine commitment to the people we serve.
I first met Tommy Williams during one of Slidell’s most challenging times: the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Tommy, along with a team of officers from the Roswell Police Department in Georgia, volunteered to come to Slidell and help our city recover. For nine days, Tommy and his fellow officers worked 12-hour shifts, patrolling our devastated streets, making felony arrests, and even helping our officers gut their homes. Their presence allowed our local officers to take care of their own families during a time of crisis. I will always be grateful for the selfless service Tommy and his team provided to our community.
I also know Tommy’s family well. His father, Wyatt Williams, served as a respected Captain with the Slidell Police Department and later as City Marshal. The Williams family has always been known for their integrity, dedication, and commitment to public service. Tommy carries on that legacy with pride and honor.
Tommy Williams is a proven leader with a lifetime of service in both the military and law enforcement. He has the experience, character, and heart to lead the Slidell Police Department into the future. He is the clear choice to lead this department, and I give him my strongest recommendation as the next Chief of Police for the City of Slidell.
It is my honor to endorse and support my colleague, Tommy Williams, for Slidell's Chief of Police. Over the years, Tommy has demonstrated through his dedicated service in law enforcement that he is committed to the welfare and safety of his community. Being a police chief requires a strong understanding of the dangers within your jurisdiction while respecting the culture and quality of life of the people you serve. Tommy has demonstrated he has the experience and ability to maintain this balance. I believe Tommy will be an excellent police chief for the City of Slidell.
My name is Kevin Foltz, and I am honored to offer my full endorsement of Tommy Williams for the position of Chief of Police for the City of Slidell.
I began my career with the Slidell Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 1983 and was hired full-time in 1985. Over the course of my 28-year career, I had the privilege of serving in numerous roles that provided me with a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement operations and leadership.
As a Patrol Officer, I served as a member of the Extrication Team, utilizing specialized equipment such as the Jaws of Life to rescue victims trapped in serious vehicle accidents. I also became the department’s first certified Field Training Officer, later supervising the Field Training Program and helping develop its policies and procedures.
Throughout my career, I was a member—and later supervisor—of the Traffic Fatality Investigation Team, responsible for investigating serious and fatal vehicle accidents within the city. I also served in the Misdemeanor Follow-Up Unit, investigating crimes throughout Slidell, and led the Oral Interview Board responsible for evaluating applicants seeking to join the department.
After being promoted to Sergeant, I served as a Patrol Shift Supervisor, and later as a Lieutenant and Patrol Shift Commander, where I oversaw large teams and worked to ensure the safety of our community. As a Lieutenant, I also served as Incident Commander during major events, including hurricanes, Mardi Gras parades, and other critical incidents impacting the city.
Following 20 years in patrol, I was promoted to Deputy Patrol Commander and later to Captain, where I served as Patrol Division Commander, supervising more than 40 personnel and overseeing daily operations. I later became Administration Division Commander, supervising the Records and National Accreditation divisions, and ultimately served as Assistant Chief of Police—the second-in-command of the department.
After retiring in 2013, my commitment to public service continued. In 2014, I was elected without opposition as Slidell City Marshal, where I remain responsible for executing court orders and ensuring the safety of all who utilize the court system.
I share this background to emphasize that I understand what it takes to be an effective leader in law enforcement—and I see those same qualities, and more, in Tommy Williams.
On a personal level, I have known Tommy and his family for over 30 years. Early in my career, I worked with his father, and my wife of over 37 years grew up alongside Tommy, attending school and even riding the same bus together. I have witnessed firsthand the character, integrity, and dedication Tommy brings to everything he does. He has always done the right thing.
Today, I have two sons serving in the Slidell Police Department—one as a Patrol K9 handler and SWAT team member, and the other in the department’s IT Division. This makes my endorsement deeply personal. If I trust Tommy Williams to help lead and protect my sons, then you can be confident he will lead and protect your family as well.
For these reasons, I give Tommy Williams my strongest possible endorsement as the next Chief of Police for the City of Slidell.
In 1985, I was hired by the Slidell Police Department as a police officer, alongside Rob Callahan and Kevin O’Neill. I served the department in a wide range of roles, including patrol officer, Field Training Officer, the department’s first Patrol K-9 Officer, Narcotics Supervisor, SWAT Team Commander, Internal Affairs Division member, and Criminal Investigations Division Deputy Commander. I also served as an Academy Instructor, Firearms Instructor, FBI National Academy Graduate, and ultimately as Assistant Chief of Police.
During my tenure as Assistant Chief, I was tasked with rewriting the Slidell Police Department’s policy manual, updating job descriptions for every position, serving on the hiring committee, and assisting with the daily operations of the department. I served under Chiefs Max Rodriguez, Ben Morris, and Freddy Drennan. I continued in these critical responsibilities until my retirement in 2010.
One of my proudest moments during my career was meeting a young applicant for the Slidell Police Department—Tommy Williams. I had served alongside Tommy’s father, Captain Wyatt Williams, for many years. Captain Williams was a role model for how to conduct oneself with integrity, professionalism, and strong leadership as both an officer and a supervisor.
In the years that followed, I came to know Tommy personally. I have the utmost respect for him and confidence in his ability to lead. He has a strong moral compass, makes tough decisions with judgment and steadiness, and consistently conducts himself with professionalism. He is approachable, organized, and focused on solutions—exactly the kind of leadership our department and community need.
I fully support Tommy Williams as the best candidate for the Slidell Police Department’s next Chief of Police.
I have known Tommy Williams for many years, and I can confidently say that he has the leadership qualities and administrative experience needed to run the Slidell Police Department from day one. Tommy is a proven leader who is ready to serve our community with integrity and professionalism. I encourage everyone to make their voice heard in this important election. Please join me in voting for Tommy Williams during Early Voting (May 2–9) or on Election Day (May 16).
To the Citizens of the City of Slidell
April 8, 2026 Please join me in offering prayerful support for every candidate seeking to serve us here in Slidell. They are our friends and neighbors, stepping forward with a desire to make our community better. Campaigning can be a demanding and stressful journey, not only for the candidates but also for their families. Let’s treat each of them with kindness along the campaign trail and greet them with a smile and a word of encouragement when they come knocking on your door. I want to thank you for the honor to serve sixteen years as your State Representative and as your State Senator working alongside great leaders such as Congressman and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator John Kennedy. The political process is vital to our democracy and so each vote should be carefully deliberated, not based on anything other than selecting the right person for the job. Although I don’t live in Slidell, I have a strong stake in the community as both a business and property owner. That’s why I stay actively involved in supporting and helping elect the best candidates for public service and why I am offering my full support and endorsement of Tommy Williams for Slidell’s next Chief of Police. Tommy is a man of integrity, strength, and steady leadership. He understands that wearing the badge is not just about authority. It’s about service, accountability, and earning the trust of the community every single day. His experience and commitment to public safety make him exceptionally qualified to lead our police department with both professionalism and compassion. What sets Tommy apart is his heart for people. He knows that a strong community is built on relationships, respect, and open communication. He is not only dedicated to protecting our neighborhoods, but also to building lasting trust between law enforcement and the citizens they serve. I encourage everyone to join me in supporting Tommy Williams for Chief of Police, a proven leader who will serve our community with courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication. God Bless the great City of Slidell!
With the election for Slidell Police Chief just around the corner, I wanted to stress the importance to everyone that your vote does matter, so I respectfully ask that you get out and vote. There are many important races on the May 16th ballot, however one that remains vitally important and the foundation for a thriving community is public safety. It is with great honor and respect that I personally endorse Mr.
Tommy Williams for Slidell Police Chief. As President of Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany, I have seen and participated in some of the biggest corruption issues in this Parish over the past 15 years, and so it is extremely important we elect an individual with extensive experience, a proven track record and has the ability to take Slidell PD to the next level. When I hear ridiculous comments like, "good ole boy" it makes me laugh because it's the furthest from the truth. Tommy Williams reflects integrity, honesty and a true love of community. In addition to his impressive military and law enforcement career, Mr. Williams has owned his own business for a long time and knows what it takes to be successful.
In my opinion Mr. Tommy Williams has the foresight, vision and determination to lead Slidell Police Department, and will raise the Department to an even higher level.
It is my honor to endorse Mr. Tommy Williams as the next Police Chief for the City of Slidell.
Tommy Williams has my complete endorsement for Chief of Police in Slidell.
I was the Traffic Enforcement Unit Sergeant for the Roswell Police Department (GA). Tommy was a Motorcycle Officer in my unit. He was consistently the top Officer in Enforcement Activity. Later in my unit, he became the Department's first Commercial Vehicle Inspector (CVI) /under a program sponsored by the State of Georgia. Thru his guidance and leadership, the CVI Unit had 12 Inspectors making us the largest unit for a Municipal Police Department. Tommy's dedication to his craft, leadership and selfless sacrifice to duty made him a leader in the truest sense. I was sad to see him leave but I knew his heart belonged to Slidell. When you elect him as YOUR POLICE CHIEF, you will have the best man for the job!! As a US Army Armored Cavalry Captain, I can only find fault with his Branch of Service but I understand duty to family tradition. VOTE FOR TOMMY WILLIAMS FOR SLIDELL POLICE CHIEF! Sgt. Matt Freeman Roswell Police Officer (Retired)
Tommy brings proven leadership, integrity, and a strong commitment to both public safety and community trust. I know he will be tough on crime and I’m confident he has the experience and vision to lead our police department forward.
Join me in supporting Tommy Williams for Slidell Police Chief.
Patrick Burke, St. Tammany Parish Councilman, District 8
I am proud to strongly recommend Tommy Williams for the position of Slidell Police Chief. Tommy has consistently demonstrated leadership, integrity, and commitment to public safety that our community both expects and deserves.
Throughout his career, he has shown an unwavering dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of Slidell. His ability to lead, by example, make sound decisions under pressure, and build trust within the community sets him apart. Tommy understands that effective policing goes beyond enforcement—it requires communication, accountability, and a genuine connection with the people he serves.
He has earned the respect of his peers through his professionalism, experience, and steady leadership. At the same time, he has shown a forward-thinking approach, embraced modern policing strategies while maintained the core values that define strong law enforcement.
Tommy William is not only highly qualified—he is the right choice to lead the Slidell Police Department into the future. I have full confidence that under its leadership, the department will continue to grow stronger and maintain the highest standards of service and integrity.
Well, I’m 75 years old and I have been around more blocks than I can count and I have met just about anybody you can think of so I think I’m in a position to make a judgment of you. You are anything but a regular person. You don’t know me, but if you did know me, you would know that I don’t kiss ass. I tell it like it is at least as I see it. I believe that you come from two remarkably brilliant, talented, moral decent parents, and you are the personification of the best of both of them!!! I think anyone who has an ounce of sense would come to that same conclusion!! thank you for your response your kindness, and your compassion ...And when you win this election I believe that under your leadership Slidell will be a better town with a stronger police force and a more formidable community than anything we’ve seen before. God bless you and I will pray for your protection always. Slidell Resident since 1992
Please consider voting for my brother from another mother for Slidell Chief of Police! Tommy and I have been friends for over 30 years, and I can attest to his honesty and integrity. Countless fishing trips brought me very close to Tommy and his whole family. Wyatt and Sandy Williams are like an extra set of parents to me—I am blessed to be part of their family! Tommy will be an amazing chief! His door will be open to the citizens of Slidell and to his officers in blue! Thank you.
Public safety is not just a priority in the City of Slidell, it is the foundation of everything we have built. Without safe neighborhoods, you don’t have economic development. You don’t have population growth. You don’t have a thriving community. Nothing else works unless public safety comes first. Slidell sits at the intersection of three major interstates and just 20 miles from New Orleans. Our location makes us strong, but it also demands strength. We cannot afford weakness. We cannot afford experiments. And we absolutely cannot afford to play politics with public safety. Tommy Williams brings more than 30 years of real, frontline law enforcement experience. He has spent his career where it matters most, on the streets, leading officers, supervising critical operations, and protecting the people of this city. That is leadership. That is commitment. That is earned respect. I have dedicated 46 years of my life to serving and protecting this community. As your Police Chief, we drew a line around the city. Criminals know where we stand. Our officers know we have their backs. And our citizens know we will protect them. If that line ever breaks, we are all in trouble. Tommy Williams is the only candidate who has the experience, toughness, and proven leadership to hold that line and move the Slidell Police Department forward. There is too much at stake to gamble on inexperience or politics. Tommy Williams is the strongest, most qualified, and only choice to serve as Slidell’s next Chief of Police. I am proud to stand with him and give him my full endorsement. Randy Fandal, Mayor of Slidell & Former Slidell Chief of Police (2016-2025)
It's my honor and privilege to support and endorse Tommy4SPDChief! I have had the opportunity to watch this man of integrity operate through many different scenarios that were placed before him. Slidell will be in good hands under his leadership and experience. Tommy and his family have been pillars here in our community, and their love for Slidell shines bright. His passion and transparency will keep Slidell a safe community with a bright future where all can flourish! Trey Brownfield, Slidell City Councilman, District F
The Clifton family, The Greater New Orleans Militaria Show and Old Patriot Militaria are VERY proud to support our dear friend and fellow United Stares Navy veteran Tommy Williams as the next Chief of Police for Slidell, Louisiana. Tommy4SPDChief has unmatched qualifications, leadership ability and integrity as well as the overwhelming support of Randy Fandal - Mayor of Slidell, Councilman Trey Brownfield and numerous other public officials and community leaders. He, without a doubt, is the person to carry on Slidell Police Department’s tradition of excellence and bring the organization to new heights in modernization, quality, training and standards. Tommy stands at the forefront as a leader who is not afraid to take on every aspect of the job and work tirelessly alongside all those who wear the Slidell PD badge. A vote for Tommy guarantees the continued safety and integrity of the SPD and we ask all who can to vote for Tommy in the upcoming election.
I have known Tommy Williams for 30 years. As a decorated combat Marine, I proudly acknowledge and share his patriotic serve to our country as a Veteran. It is my distinct pleasure and honor to have served with him as a uniformed police officer and seasoned professional investigator. I have placed my life in his hands on several occasions; and am willing to do that again and that of my family. I would be proud to serve under his office as Chief of Police if I wasn't already retired. Tommy Williams is Great for Slidell! Kenneth Krause, Roswell Police Officer (Retired) & Former U.S. Marine
