FAMILY
Tommy has been married to his wife Susan for over ten years; she works in dental sales and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercer University. He has two daughters, Madison Wuertz, and Chelsie Smith. His son-in-law Kelby Wuertz is a police officer for the City of Slidell and works as a detective. Madison and Kelby have three beautiful daughters, Presleigh (10), Kelyn (5) and Lily (2). Chelsie is married to Brandon and has a son Saint (6).
Tommy has spent most of his adult working life in service to the nation and community. Tommy was raised in a law enforcement family. His father retired from the Slidell Police Department after 25 years of service. After retirement, Tommy’s father Wyatt was elected as the Slidell City Marshall where he served two complete terms before retiring.
Tommy is running to be Slidell’s next Chief of Police. Tommy is a “man of his word” candidate and was raised on a handshake. Tommy does not make promises that he cannot or will not keep. Tommy is committed to protect our community, up-hold our values, and ensure the safety and quality of life that the citizens of Slidell expect and deserve. By working hand-in-hand with local, state, and federal agencies, he will strengthen our partnerships and deliver results that matter.
