PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Tommy was born at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in Slidell, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Pearl River High School. Upon completion of high school Tommy worked in the oil and gas industry as a deckhand and eventually as a captain on crew boats. In 1987, Tommy joined the United States Navy, where he served as a Nuclear Weapons Technician. During his military service, he was highly decorated for service above and beyond the call of duty. Tommy was honorably discharged after completing his second enlistment. Upon completion of active-duty service, he enrolled in the police academy in St. Augustine, Florida and completed over nine hundred hours of training, and was a distinguished graduate from his class.

In the summer of 1995, Tommy moved to Georgia and enrolled in the police academy in Kenesaw, Georgia. While attending the academy, he was hired by the City of Roswell Police Department as a corrections officer. Upon graduating from the academy, he accepted a full-time position as a police officer with the City of Roswell Police Department.

While employed at the police department, he wrote and maintained a Federal Grant for commercial vehicle inspection/enforcement, which totaled over $200,000.00. He managed this annually renewed grant for several years with zero discrepancies, and his agency often used him as an example for other jurisdictions to follow. He worked for the Roswell Police Department for 14 years. For seven of those years, he was in a supervisory role as a shift Sergeant. In 2007, he retired from the City of Roswell Police Department and moved home to Slidell. In December of 2007, he was sworn in as a City of Slidell Police Officer. During his service with the Slidell Police Department, he has received two (2) life-saving awards and several accommodations for outstanding service. He is a Police Certified Post Instructor and has been instrumental in the training of hundreds of newly hired police officers, not only for the Slidell Police Department, but for other agencies around the state and region. He is a current member of the Slidell Police Department Reserve Division and volunteers countless hours protecting the citizens of Slidell.

Tommy has spent most of his adult life serving the nation and community. Tommy was raised in a family very engaged with law enforcement. His father retired from the Slidell Police Department after 25 years of service. After retirement, Tommy’s father, Wyatt, was elected as the Slidell City Marshall, where he served two complete terms before retiring. Tommy has been in a law enforcement position for over 30 years. He has completed thousands of hours of training, with hundreds of those hours in specialized fields, including three levels of police supervision.
