Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to the Tommy Williams for Slidell Chief of Police app and related website integrations (the “App”). The App is provided by the Tommy Williams campaign (“we,” “us,” or the “Campaign”) via https://tommy4spdchief.com and our Facebook Page. By using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of the App and services

The App provides social feed display and campaign-related features, including showing public posts from our Facebook Page, embedding multimedia content, and supporting contact/volunteer signups. The App uses Facebook/Meta APIs to display public page content and to facilitate interactions between the Campaign and visitors.

3. Acceptance of terms and changes

By using the App you accept and agree to these Terms. We may modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted at https://tommy4spdchief.com/terms-of-service and the “Effective date” will be updated. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

4. Account access, tokens, and permissions

• To operate the App we connect to Facebook/Meta using an access token associated with the Campaign’s Facebook Page. That token is stored securely and is not published.
• If you authorize the App (for example, to interact or comment using Facebook authentication), you will be asked to grant specific permissions. You may revoke those permissions at any time in your Facebook account settings.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of any Facebook account credentials you use to authorize the App. We are not responsible for losses arising from unauthorized access to your account.
• Google OAuth and email sending: To enable reliable delivery of form messages, the Campaign uses Google OAuth in conjunction with WP Mail SMTP (or similar) to send outbound emails from the campaign Gmail account (tommy4stpdchief@gmail.com). The App requests only the minimum Gmail and profile permissions required to send email and confirm the sending account (for example, gmail.send, userinfo.email, and userinfo.profile). The App will not read, list, modify, or delete mailbox contents. OAuth tokens/credentials necessary to send mail are stored securely on the Site and used only for the purpose of sending campaign‑related emails. The Gmail account owner may revoke the App’s access at any time via Google Account → Security → Third‑party apps with account access → Remove Access.
• Token security and storage: OAuth tokens and any credentials used by the App are stored on secure hosting infrastructure and are accessible only to authorized campaign administrators. We follow reasonable security practices to protect tokens (secure storage, limited access control). Tokens may be rotated or revoked when appropriate.
• Revocation and data deletion: You may request deletion of campaign‑held data by visiting our Data Deletion Instructions page: https://tommy4spdchief.com/data-deletion or by emailing tommy4stpdchief@gmail.com. Deleting or revoking the App’s OAuth client in the Google Cloud Console will invalidate stored tokens.

5. Data collection and privacy

The Campaign collects and processes information in accordance with our Privacy Policy: https://tommy4spdchief.com/privacy-policy. The App may display or access public Page content, and if you choose to log in or interact, additional user data may be processed subject to the permissions you grant. We do not sell personal information.

6. Use of content and intellectual property

• Campaign content (text, images, videos, logos, trademarks) is owned by or licensed to the Campaign. You may not reproduce or distribute Campaign content for commercial purposes without prior written permission.
• You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content visible through the App, you grant the Campaign a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, translate, distribute, and display that content in connection with the Campaign’s activities.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App for illegal purposes or in violation of any law or regulation;
• Post, upload, or transmit content that is abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, threatening, or infringes the rights of others;
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or break the security or integrity of the App;
• Use automated systems, bots, or scraping tools to access or collect data from the App except as expressly permitted;
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

Prohibited Conduct:

Unauthorized use of Google API scopes and tokens: You must not attempt to request, obtain, or use Google API permissions beyond those explicitly granted for the App’s functionality (for example, full mailbox access or read/modify Gmail scopes). You must not attempt to access, copy, export, or otherwise obtain mailbox contents or other users’ private data via the App. Attempting to circumvent OAuth restrictions, reuse, share, or exfiltrate OAuth tokens or credentials, or otherwise misuse API access is strictly prohibited and may result in suspension or termination of access and legal action.

 

8. Third-party services and disclaimers

The App uses third-party services (including Facebook/Meta) that have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control those third-party services and are not responsible for their practices. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. The App and content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Campaign disclaims all warranties, express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Campaign, its officers, agents, and representatives will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Campaign and its officers, agents, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

11. Termination and suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App at any time, for any reason, including suspected violations of these Terms or legal obligations. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.

12. Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana. You and the Campaign consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

14. Facebook/Meta acknowledgment

The App is not owned or operated by Facebook/Meta. Facebook/Meta is a third-party platform and the App uses Facebook APIs under Facebook’s Platform Policies. By using the App you agree that Facebook/Meta is not responsible for the App and you will not hold Facebook/Meta liable for the App’s content or operation.

15. Additional terms for developers and app reviewers

If you are using the App as a developer or during Facebook App Review, you agree to comply with Facebook’s Platform Policies and developer guidelines. Any permissions used by the App will be requested only for legitimate functional reasons and, where required, will be submitted for App Review.

16. Changes to the App

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App at any time without prior notice. We will make reasonable efforts to post notice of any material changes on our website.
